Within these stories and memories we’re also taken on a journey of our own, a journey that inspires and uplifts us, and asks us tough creative and spiritual questions. Both candid and passionate, “Go For It” reignites our love of the arts and gives us advice and confidence that fuels our own creative paths.
Go for It Surviving the Challenges of Becoming an Artist eBook Nora Germain
In this book, a comment is made about "why write a book like this when there are so many others like it?"Artistic voice continues to move, and grow, and change; and so too, I think, should the conversation about it. Nora's take on how to cultivate inspiration and creativity is honest. It's the kind of honest that you may get in a one on one conversation with a best friend, but not a Facebook post. I think Nora sees the need for that honesty, and was courageous enough to share her story, and empathetically say to others, "Hey, no matter what...you do YOU."
Sometimes inspiration can come from artists we admire from hundreds of years ago. People we have neither met nor spoken to, nor ever had the privilege of watching perform while they were alive. It's like listening to my parents' old records and wondering what it must have been like to live during that time and experience music that way. This kind of inspiration is from a living, breathing human being that's going through the ebbs and flows of artistic life - right now! There is no wondering about how it is, she tells you.
In today's world, I think that Nora's voice has incredible relevance. Moving from chapter to chapter feels easy, and I eagerly turn pages to find out what happened next, or what she thinks about this or that. This book has incredible value, especially for young artists today who may think that their voice does not need to be heard. I will happily use this book as reference for myself and my students.

Go for It Surviving the Challenges of Becoming an Artist eBook Nora Germain Reviews
Nora Germain is fearless and she can't be stopped. Get on board or get out of the way.
Great insight & inspiration from an American Original!
It’s unreal how someone so young has achieved so much. This book just demonstrates how hard work can get you to anywhere you want to be in life. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get that extra push with self-motivation.
Part autobiography, part self-help guide, this book is a unique insight into the life of a young creative artist. Nora is still at the beginning of her career, yet this book is full of anecdotes featuring some of the biggest names in jazz music, people she has worked with, played with, befriended and whose respect she has earned along the way. Her drive and enthusiasm leap off the page and it is a rare thing to have access to the mindset of someone who is clearly heading for the very pinnacle of her profession. A compelling read!
Music, wisdom and inspiration delivered in a concise, precise package that is Nora Germain. It is also this book. Feeling alone in your practice or aspiration? Lost motivation? Dampened desire? Unsure of where to find your voice or energy to continue? Nora's energy and optimism are contagious. And her new book is a tool to focus, unblock, or simply engage potential you'd forgotten or ignored. Have an idea? A dream? A simple goal for the next half hour? Read this book, the Go For It!
Great read by a real musician that learned the ropes.
This is a superbly written tale of the personal and professional challenges faced by a jazz violinist who has risen to the top of her craft at a young age. The book is a combination memoir and self-help course. The straightforward and open writing style makes it seem as if Ms. Germain is a trusted friend telling you about her life over coffee. Irrepressible, abundantly optimistic, the challenges she describes are interwoven with many life lessons, originating from both personal experience and from mentors the author has encountered along the way. I found the book hard to put down, and when I finished it, I felt 20 years younger and full of energy and possibility. Although directed toward jazz musicians and artists more generally, I found the stories and lessons apply equally well to any professional field where hard work, striving, repeated failure, and the need for unbending optimism are necessary for success. A must read for anyone interested in professional artistry and the commitment necessary to perfect your game.
